La Aŭtuna Renkontiĝo de Esperanto (ARE) estas unuaranga Esperanta aranĝo en Usono.  Ĝi okazas ĉiu-jare dum la semajnfinon de Kolumbo-Tago (Columbus Day).  Lastatempe la renkontiĝo okazas en Silver Bay en Novjorko.  Ĝi estas kune organizita de la Esperanto-societo Kebekia (Quebec Esperanto Society), do ĝi estas unu el le plej internaciaj aranĝoj en Usono.

Estas sufiĉe malfacila atingi Silver Bay de Ilinojo.  Tamen, laŭ mia frato Steven Brewer, preskaŭ ĉiu partoprenanto veturos tra Albany–kaj iu el ili feliĉe helpos vin atingi la renkontiĝejo, se vi povas atinigi je Albany.

Se vi volas ĉeesti kaj volas kunaranĝi kun aliaj ĉeestantoj pri veturado de Albany, kontaktu min por la epoŝta adreso de mia frato.The Fall Esperanto Weekend (ARE) is a first-rate Esperanto meeting in the United States.  It takes place every year during the Columbus Day weekend.  The last few years it has been at Silver Bay in New York.  It is jointly organized with the Quebec Esperanto Society, so it’s one of the most international Esperanto conferences in the US.

It’s not trivially easy to get to Silver Bay from Illinois.  However, according to my brother Steven Brewer, almost every participant travels through Albany to get there–and any of them would be happy to help someone cover the last leg of the trip to the conference, if you can get yourself as far as Albany.

If you’re interested in attending and want to be put in touch with other attendees to arrange transport from Albany, let me know and I’ll put you in touch with my brother.

The date and location of the Esperanto-USA landa kongreso has been set:  28th to the 31st of May, 2010 in Washington, D.C.

Phil Dorcas says:

Remember the 100-year anniversary of the lecture by Dr. Zamenhof in Washington.  That deserves to be announced widely to the media!

Ĵaŭde je 5:15 ptm en al konstruaĵo Foreign Language. Ni kunigas en la atrio je la teretaĝo, kaj poste elektas liberan ĉambron por kunsidi.

Thursdays at 5:15 PM in the Foreign Language building. We’ll gather in the atrium on the ground floor, then pick a free classroom when we’re ready to start.

La unua renkontiĝo de la lernej-jaro okazos hodiaŭ, la 3an de septembro, je 5:15 ptm en ĉambro 323 de la konstruaĵo Natural History (la dua konstruaĵo oriente de la Student Union).

Ni diskutos:

  1. Demandojn pri Esperanto
  2. Planojn por la klubo ĉi-jare
  3. Ĉu ĉi tiu loko kaj tempo plaĉas al ĉeestantoj

Venu!  Ni havos manĝetojn!This semester’s first meeting of the Esperanto club will be TODAY, Thursday September 3rd, at 5:15 PM in room 323 of the Natural History Building (the second building east of the student union–Harker Hall is in between).

For interested people who can’t get there at 5:15 PM, a couple of us will show up at 4:15 PM to answer questions.

Please join us for the meeting if you can, or show up for the pre-meeting if that works better. There will be snacks!

Our main goals are to:

Answer any questions people have about Esperanto,
Talk about plans for the club this semester,
Find out if this meeting time and place will work going forward.

Until then we won’t be having our regular meetings.  We’ll start back up after the first day of instruction.

Aŭtuna agadoFall activities

Ni ekplanas agadojn por la aŭtunaj monatoj.  Jen iom da ideoj:

  1. Korto-tago (quad day) — Darcy aranĝis, ke ni havos tablon.  Ni intencas aĉeti ŝildon aŭ standardon por ĝi.  (Do:  Kio estu sur la ŝildo?)
  2. Afiŝoj — Darcy kaj mi intencas afiŝi afiŝojn, por inviti homojn al niaj renkontiĝoj.  Eble du-foje–unue por someraj renkontiĝoj, kaj refoje, post la komenco de la universitata sesio.
  3. Bakaĵo-vendado (bake sale) — frue dum la universitata sesio, ni eble vendos bakaĵon en la konstruaĵo “fremda lingvo” por gajni monon por aliaj projektoj.
  4. Publika prezento — inviti la generalan publikon al prezento pri Esperanto.  (Taskoj:  peti ĉambro de universitato.)
  5. Filmetoj — Ni eble filmos kaj enretigos unu-du mallongajn filmetojn.

Aliaj ideoj?

We’ve started planning activities for the fall.  Here are a few ideas:

  1. Quad day — Darcy has arranged for us to have a table.  We’re planning to buy a banner for it.  (So:  What should the banner say?)
  2. Posters — Darcy and I are planning to post some posters, to invite people to our meetings.  Maybe two times–first for the summer meetings, and then again after the beginning of the semester.
  3. Bake sale — Early in the semester, we’re thinking of holding a bake sale in the Foreign Language building to raise money for other projects.
  4. Public presentation — We’d like to hold a public meeting where we’d invite the general public to a presentation on Esperanto.  (Tasks:  request a room from the University.)
  5. Videos — We’re thinking about making a couple of short videos.

    La temo de la venonta renkontiĝo (la 2an de julio) estos diskuto pri la novelo “Marvirinstrato” de Tim Westover, la titola novelo de lia nova novelaro.

    Oni povas elŝuti la libron senpage, do eĉ homoj, kiu ne aĉetis ekzempleron povas partopreni.

    Se iuj komencantoj volas partopreni, ni povas antaŭe kunigi por legi ĝin kiel grupo.  Esprimu intereson aŭ al la Esperanto_Champaign listo aŭ al info@ekoci.org.The topic of the next (July 2nd) meeting will be a discussion of the short story “Marvirinstrato” by Tim Westover, the title story of his new short story collection.

    You can download the book for free, so even people who haven’t bought a copy can participate.

    If any beginners want to participate, we can get together in advance to read it as a group.  Express interest either to the Esperanto_Champaign list or to info@ekoci.org.
