Ni ankaŭ invitas al nunaj membroj, ke ili venu je unu tago pli frue por antaŭrenkontiĝa renkontiĝo: je 6:00 ptm merkredon samloke, por plani la unuan renkontiĝon. (Ni kontrolos la ĉambrojn, diskutos la enkondukan prezentaĵon, ktp.)The first meeting of the new semester will be Thursday, the 26th of August at 5:30 PM in the atrium of the Foreign Language Building. (We’ll move to a free room. So, if you arrive late, check for us in the nearby rooms.)

We also invite current members to come one day earlier for a pre-meeting meeting: at 6:00 PM Wednesday in the same location, for planning the first meeting. (We’ll check the rooms, talk about the introductory presentation, and so on.)

Ni renkontiĝos je la kutima loko kaj tempo (ĉambro 1120 en la konstruaĵo Foreign Language je 5:15 ptm). Se vetero estas bona, ni iros eksteren al la korto.

Venu! Se vi povas, alportu manĝaĵon por dividi, sed tio ne gravas. Venu!

We’ll met at the usual time and place (room 1120 Foreign Language Building at 5:15 PM). If the weather is good, we’ll go outside to the quad.

This will be our last regular meeting of the semester, but several group members will stay through the summer, so we anticipate that there will be some kind of summer meetings. We’ll post details.

Ni ankoraŭ renkontos ĵaŭde en la konstruaĵo Foreign Language je 5:15 ptm ĝis 6:15 ptm en ĉambro 1120. Ĉi tiuj renkontiĝoj estos por instrui al komencantoj.  Ni uzos la libron Gerda Malaperis, kune kun aliaj studiloj (kiel Mazi kaj Teach Yourself Esperanto).

Ni komencos freŝan grupon je la 4a de februaro, 2010, sed komencantoj libere ekĉeestu iam dum la semestro.  Ankaŭ progresantoj kaj fluparolantoj estas bonvena.

Ni ekrenkontos sabate je 2:00 ptm en la akceptejo de la konstruaĵo Krannert Center for the Performing Arts (apud la trinkejo) por konversacii, ludi, spekti vidaĵojn, ktp.

Esperantistoj je iu ajn lingvo-kapablo estas bonvena, sed komencantoj konstatu, ke ni provas fari la sabato-renkontiĝojn tute en Esperanto.We’re making some minor changes in our meeting schedule.

Thursday meeting for beginners

We’ll still have our regular Thursday meetings in the Foreign Language Building, Room 1120 at 5:15 PM – 6:15 PM, but these meetings will now focus specifically on beginners.  Our plan is to work our way through Gerda Malaperis, together with other materials (including Mazi and Teach Yourself Esperanto).

We’ll be starting fresh this coming Thursday, February 4th, 2010, but beginning students should feel free to join us at any time through the semester.  Intermediate and advanced students are welcome as well.

Saturday Conversation Group

On Saturdays at 2:00 PM we meet for Esperanto conversation in the lobby of the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts.  We converse, play games, watch videos, etc.

Esperantists at any level are welcome to join us, but beginners should be aware that we’re trying to do our Saturday meetings entirely in Esperanto.

Pri kio temas Esperanto, la facile lernebla internacia lingvo?  Venu al ĉi tiu mallonga prelego.  Ni diskutos la bazon de la lingvo, eksterlandan studadon, la kulturon de Esperantistoj, kaj la studentan organizon Esperanto@UIUC.  Senkosta kurso komencos sekvontan semajnon, do venu!

Ni renkontos laŭ nia kutima plano (je 5:15 ptm en la Konstruaĵo Foreign Language).  Ĉi tiuj renkontiĝoj estos principe por komencanto-instruado.

Unu temo de la unua renkontiĝo (la 21an de januario) estos ebla plua semajna renkontiĝo por Esperanto-lingva parolado kaj aliaj agadoj (ludoj, ktp).

Venonta semajno ni faros paroladon Introduction to Esperanto por la publiko, verŝajne en la Konstruaĵo Natural History. Detaloj sekvos.Welcome back!

Our current plan is that we’ll continue meeting at our usual time (5:15 PM Thursdays) in our usual place (Foreign Language Building).  These meetings will focus on teaching Esperanto to beginners and near-beginners.

One thing that we want to talk about at our first meeting (January 21) is adding a second weekly meeting for conversation in Esperanto and other activities like Esperanto games.

Next week’s meeting will be an “introduction to Esperanto” for the general public, probably in the Natural History Building–details to follow.

Ĉar estos Danktago, ni ne renkontos je la 26a de novembro 2009.Because it will be Thanksgiving, we won’t meet on November 26th, 2009.

La Aŭtuna Renkontiĝo de Esperanto (ARE) estas unuaranga Esperanta aranĝo en Usono.  Ĝi okazas ĉiu-jare dum la semajnfinon de Kolumbo-Tago (Columbus Day).  Lastatempe la renkontiĝo okazas en Silver Bay en Novjorko.  Ĝi estas kune organizita de la Esperanto-societo Kebekia (Quebec Esperanto Society), do ĝi estas unu el le plej internaciaj aranĝoj en Usono.

Estas sufiĉe malfacila atingi Silver Bay de Ilinojo.  Tamen, laŭ mia frato Steven Brewer, preskaŭ ĉiu partoprenanto veturos tra Albany–kaj iu el ili feliĉe helpos vin atingi la renkontiĝejo, se vi povas atinigi je Albany.

Se vi volas ĉeesti kaj volas kunaranĝi kun aliaj ĉeestantoj pri veturado de Albany, kontaktu min por la epoŝta adreso de mia frato.The Fall Esperanto Weekend (ARE) is a first-rate Esperanto meeting in the United States.  It takes place every year during the Columbus Day weekend.  The last few years it has been at Silver Bay in New York.  It is jointly organized with the Quebec Esperanto Society, so it’s one of the most international Esperanto conferences in the US.

It’s not trivially easy to get to Silver Bay from Illinois.  However, according to my brother Steven Brewer, almost every participant travels through Albany to get there–and any of them would be happy to help someone cover the last leg of the trip to the conference, if you can get yourself as far as Albany.

If you’re interested in attending and want to be put in touch with other attendees to arrange transport from Albany, let me know and I’ll put you in touch with my brother.
